Aurora Shooting Survivor Asks Presidential Candidates for a Plan on Gun Violence in TV Ad Aimed at Debate Viewers

Oct 01, 2012

Two months after another of the worst mass shootings in U.S. history unfolded in a Colorado theater, one of its survivors is appearing in a new television advertisement demanding that the presidential candidates explain how they will reduce gun violence.

The ad features Stephen Barton, a recent Syracuse University graduate and Fulbright Scholar who was shot in an Aurora theater as he was biking across the country. The ad will air nationally as President Barack Obama and Governor Mitt Romney prepare to meet in Denver for the first presidential debate. Barton’s ad is part of the “Demand A Plan” campaign led by shooting survivors and Mayors Against Illegal Guns.
